The H55H-I motherboard is based upon Intel’s H55 chipset. This is the first chipset to support the new Intel GMA HD graphics on the Allendale CPUs that have been released on the LGA-1156 CPU interface. The new CPU has integrated graphics built into the CPU meaning that you don’t have to purchase a graphics card, just a chipset with support for the CPU’s graphics.

The GMA HD is a newer version of the GMA series of chips found on earlier Intel internal graphics. The clock speed is dependent on the CPU being used, with 900MHz being the top speed on the Core i5-661. The GMA HD supports DirectX 10.1 features which add support for parallel cube mapping, improved anti-aliasing and generally improves upon DirectX 10.0 which was released with Windows Vista.

The H55 chipset supports all current LGA-1156 CPUs put out by Intel including the Core i7-870, Core i7-750 and the new Core i5-661, 660, 650 and 9650 CPUs. One thing to note is that the CPU Support list on ECS’s website lists the Core i7-975 and 965 CPUs supported by this motherboard. Those CPUs are LGA-1366 based and will not fit into a LGA-1156 Socket. If you want a HTPC with limited thermals and power the LGA-1366 CPU is probably the last thing on your mind.

eJIFFY is a mini operating system that loads before Windows and after the BIOS is loaded. Linux-based, eJIFFY allows youto boot your computer within the span of a few seconds instead of the over 1 minute that Windows takes to load. eJIFFY has several applications including a chat application, a web browser, picture show, and multi-language support. eJIFFY supports up to 16 messenger clients and 16 languages compared to 5 and 5 on other formats.
