Starting at the upper right hand corner of the board we find that ASRock has included a 4-pin power connector. On the far left corner there is a PS/2_USB_PWR1 jumper. The CPU Fan and Power Fan headers are next. The CPU Socket is a LGA-1156 Socket and the CPU area is completely free of obstacles.

The board has two DIMM slots that take up to 16GB of DDR3-2600+MHz memory. The Core i3-i7 CPU families on the LGA-1156 Socket have the memory controller on the CPU. As the native controller on the CPU can only reach 1333MHz, to get the higher memory frequencies you need to overclock. Also note if you use integrated graphics the memory available to the board is less.

The bottom of the board starts off with some circuitry. The next item is a 24-pin Power connector. The BIOS chip is next. Above the BIOS chip is the H55 chip for the PCH. The H55 chipset supports up to 6 SATA connectors of the 3 Gb/second variety. The H55M-LE board sports four connectors, enough for most people as the H55 chipset does not support RAID.

The left side of the board starts off with the four wire speaker jumper followed by the Front Panel connections. The Clear CMOS jumper is below the H55 chipset. Next to the Front Panel is a Chas is Fan header followed by two USB 2.0 headers. Above the USB headers is a USB Power jumper. An Infrared jumper, a Chassis intrusion jumper, a LPT1 and the COM1 jumper rounds out the board’s edges.

The expansion on the board is limited by the fact it is a micro-ATX board. There is a single PCI Express x16 slot, a PCIE x1 slot and two PCI slots. ASRock’s website says this board can do CrossfireX but without a second PCIE x16 slot this is academic. A Via VT1718S CODEC is provided to allow the user to utilize the onboard sound and the Creative Labs X-Fi MB application if you wish to purchase it. This fully supports Azalia and EAX 4.0 if you get the X-Fi MB application.

The rear I/O on the board consists of a PS/2 keyboard port, a VGA D-Sub port, a VGA DVI-D port 6 ready to use USB 2.0 ports, a RJ-45 LAN port with LED, and the six audio jacks for the onboard VIA VT2128 CODEC. The lack of a Mouse PS/2 port is understandable as few people still use a PS/2 port and the two LED lights for the LAN are activity and Speed LEDs. The two VGA ports can be used with a DVI-D monitor or an analog monitor.
