GIGABYTE uses a licensed modified version of the Phoenix Award BIOS. Their main menu is split into the MB Intelligent Tweaker (MIT), Standard CMOS Features, Advanced BIOS Features, Integrated Peripherals, Power Management, and PC Health Status. The Standard CMOS settings allow you to view your detected SATA and IDE drives, date and time, and system boot errors.
Power and Reset Clear CMOS switch BIOS Overclocked
The Advanced BIOS Features is where you enable or disable the major CPU features of the AM3 CPUs including C1E, Virtualization, and K8 Cool n Quiet etc. Here is also where you set your Boot device priority and the Initial Display adapter. Integrated Peripherals is where you set your SATA controllers settings, including the onboard ESATA, the GSATA RAID Controller and the Onchip SATA Controller.
The MIT is where the tweaking of the system clocks and voltages is done. The Advanced Clock Calibration is where you can set the EC Firm3ware you can change the core speed when using a Black Edition CPU from +12% to -12%. You have a wide array of choices on tweaking the motherboard in the MIT menu. I was able to overclock the Phenom II 810 to 3.04GHz without issue as to stability. Overclocking the CPU faster caused stability issues. Here’s a chart of the settings available:
