I decided to take the same HDD from Seagate, the Barracuda XT 2TB drive out for a test spin on the new GIGABYTE motherboard. Overall, the performance was around 2.5% faster than the ASUS solution due to the SATA 6 Gb/second having full access to the PCI Express lanes that would have to be bridged on the ASUS motherboard.
