The Intel P55 chipset launch coincided with a host of new technologies including the PCI Express lanes on the CPU itself, new standards for SATA and USB have also been announced and P55 motherboards are the first to bring support for the new features. Unfortunately, the design of the P55 chipset predated the new standards and motherboards supporting the new features will require a bridge chip to offer support.
GIGABYTE is a Taiwanese motherboard manufacturer that manufactures motherboards, video cards, and many other computer related equipment. Their motherboards include several variants of the P55 chipset and today they are launching their A version of their P55 chipsets. The A signifies a change in their marketing for their new motherboards adding USB 3.0 and SATA 6 Gb/second support to their already full-featured P55-UD6 motherboard and stands for Accelerated.
