ASUS P7P55D Premium Motherboard Review

The P55 Express and LGA-1156 CPU combination has been a success for Intel as they have no real competition in this market due to the lack of a license for NVIDIA and the lack of serious competition from the AMD guys in the CPU space. Many motherboard manufacturers use the P55 Express chipset in their lineups as a less expensive complement to the X58 chipset and Core i7 CPU combination. The new chipset has some features that innovate, such as support for the graphics card PCI Express lanes on the CPU, and are the first motherboards to support SATA 6 Gb/second.

ASUS launched several products with the Intel P55 Express chipset launch including the P7P55D Deluxe which I reviewed earlier this year. That motherboard was one of the first on the market and featured many of ASUS’s innovations like their Xtreme Design, the OC Genie and many more. Today’s review is on the latest addition to the P55 chipset lineup from ASUS, the ASUS P7P55D Premium motherboard which they bill as the World’s First SATA 6GB/second motherboard. There is also a new version of this board with an added A in the nomenclature which means he new boards supports SATA 3.
