The board is one of the first motherboards on the market to support SATA3 6.0Gb/second via an ASRock SATA 6Gb/s card. SATA 6Gbit/second is the preferred term due to possible confusion with the SATA 3.0Gb/second standard with SATA3. SATA 6Gbit/second provides double the bandwidth compared to SATAII, a new NCQ streaming command, an NCQ Management feature, and a small Low Insertion Force connector. The other benefit of the new standard is that SSD drives are quickly saturating the bus of the older connections and this should alleviate this. ASRock includes a card to enable the new standard on the board.

The MOSFET chips are cooled by a heatsink/heatpipe combination with a heatpipe leading out from the MOSFET heatsink on to the other MOSFET heatsink. ASRock uses 100% Japanese Solid Capacitors with 2.5x the lifetime of normal capacitors. Below the CPU Socket is where ASRock has placed the DIMM Sockets.

The ASRock P55 Deluxe board has four DIMM Sockets that support up to 16GB of non-buffered DDR3 memory. With the memory controller being on the CPU the maximum memory speed supported by the CPU is DDR3-1333MHz. With overclocking you can reach up to the DDR3-2600MHz speeds depending on the memory rating and the overclock.

The bottom right hand side of the board starts off with the Reset and Power buttons. These are handy for when you want to test the CPU or other system component outside the case or before installation inside a case. To the left of those is a 24-pin power connector. To the left of the 24-pin power connector is the TPM Header.

There are three PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots, three PCI slots and a single PCI Express x1 slot on the board for device expansion. The board supports 2-way SLI or up to 3-way CrossfireX. Note due to the lack of a NF200 chip on the board, two card SLI is supported but 3-way SLI is not. There is plenty of room to install three HD 5870 video cards in the slots if you wish.

In terms of HDD support Iíve already covered the SATA 6Gb/s support on the board in the Features section. There are six SATAII ports that support up to 3Gb/second. These are located next to the IDE port on the board they support RAID 0, 1, 10, 5 and Intel Matrix Storage. The rear I/O on this board has a Powered external SATA/USB combo connector useful for devices that need powering.
