The ASRock P55 Deluxe is based upon the Intel P55 Express chipset and the LGA-1156 CPU Socket. The Core i5 CPU has moved control of the PCI Express lanes onto the CPU instead of the Northbridge on previous chipsets from Intel. ASRockís board supports all current LGA-1156 CPUs including the Core i7 870, the Core i7 860 and the Core i5 750 available.

ASRockís P55 Deluxe board is one of the first P55 boards to fully support 3-way CrossfireX. The LGA-1156 CPU only has support for 24 PCI Express 2.0 lanes. ASRock supports up to three video cards on this motherboard in either 3-way CrossfireX, 2-way SLI, 2-way CrossfireX or even Quad SLI or CrossfireX. More information will be provided in the Layout page.

EuP stands for Energy using Product and is a energy standard regulated by the European Union to define the power consumption for a completed system. With EuP 1.0 the maximum power of a completed computer in off mode shall be under 1.00W. EuP 2.0 is a new standard that shall take in effect in Europe in 2013 but is introduced with ASRock P55 chipset motherboards. This standard requires a maximum power of 0.5W in off mode, much stricter than the 1.0 standard.

The board is one of the first motherboards on the market to support SATA3 6.0Gb/second via an ASRock SATA 6Gb/s card. SATA 6Gbit/second is the preferred term due to possible confusion with the SATA 3.0Gb/second standard with SATA3. SATA 6Gbit/second provides double the bandwidth compared to SATAII, a new NCQ streaming command, an NCQ Management feature, and a small Low Insertion Force connector. The other benefit of the new standard is that SSD drives are quickly saturating the bus of the older connections and this should alleviate this. ASRock includes a card to enable the new standard on the board.
