Intel shipped this motherboard in a black Intel box. This board came as part of a test kit and therefore is missing some of the retail packaging. The front of the box has a Blue skull with the name of the board and the CPU support on front. The back of the box has the features of the board including the included software and a description of the new P55 Express chipset.
One cool thing Intel included with their packaging was the NVIDIA SLI connector. For many years Intel has been spurned by NVIDIA, with NVIDIA building their private motherboard brand. Last year’s launch of the LGA-1366 CPUs and the X58 changed that to reflect the fact that NVIDIA did not have a license to produce chips using the QPI interface
Intel did not supply a Driver CD with the motherboard; however, the latest drivers were downloaded from Intel’s site for this review. Intel also chose to include their Desktop Control Center. The DCC shows the Ambient Temperature, the CPU Temperature, the PCH Temperature, the Uncore and CPU Voltage, the Multiplier, the Host Clock Frequency, the total memory and timings, the memory bus speed, the PCI Express bus speed, and the PCI Bus speed.
