XFX MB-X58I-CH19 Motherboard Review :: XFX MB-X58I-CH19 BIOS and Overclocking
XFX uses a modified version of the American Megatrends AMIBIOS for their X58i SLI motherboard. Note that while their nForce 750i SLI board uses a MSI like BIOS, the X58 board BIOS is different. XFX has adopted a Dual BIOS which allows the user to safely Flash the BIOS. If the first BIOS fails to POST the second BIOS kicks in and the system is safe. The layout of the BIOS is split into Main, Advanced, Power, Boot, Security and Exit with the overclocking options located in the Justw00t menu. The Main Menu is where the basic system information is located. Time, Date, Legacy Diskette A, Language, Storage Configuration, AHCI Configuration, USB Device and System Information are all stored here. The Advanced Menu is where the CPU Configuration, the chipset, onboard device and PCIPnP is located. The onboard audio, LAN, JMicron ATA Controller and RAID configuration menus are here. The Boot menu is where the boot sequence is set. The overclocking and most of the tweaking is done in the Justw00t menu which is specific to XFX motherboards. Overclocking the Core i7 920 with this board was pretty successful. I was able to Overclock the 2.66GHz CPU to 3.2 as the multiplier is locked on every Core i7 CPU except for the 965 XE, the Base Clock was increased and voltages were upped to get that result. Note that this was on air-cooling, meaning that a more elaborate cooling system would probably result in a higher Overclock. Here's a chart listing the various settings in the Justw00t menu:
