XFX nForce 750i SLI Motherboard Review

XFX has a very interesting product with the nForce 750i SLI board. It overclocks very well with the 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo hitting over 3.2GHz on air cooling. That is a pretty impressive feat considering how generally un-overclocker friendly the CPU is. The ability to use two NVIDIA graphics based cards in SLI is another plus that is not available on the Intel LGA-775 platform except for those users having a SLI-capable motherboard like this one.

Performance is on par with other nForce 750i SLI boards. Feature-wise the XFX nForce 750i SLI board has it covered with SLI, overclocking, a DEBUG LED, Clear CMOS button on the rear IO and more. The negatives of this board are lesser performance compared to nForce 790i SLI boards, the fact that Intel has moved their high-end CPUs to a new platform and no Crossfire compatibility.

Going forward, most every motherboard sold this year will likely be based upon the LGA-1366 platform. The nForce 750i SLI offers excellent upgradeability for those wanting to upgrade their CPU but not wanting to go the whole Core i7/X58/DDR3 route. Quad-core CPUs like the Q6600 and Q9450 perform excellent without the need for a $300 motherboard and expensive memory and the combination still outclasses AMD’s best at the same price. This is a good overclocking motherboard and its reasonably priced, a few months back this board would have been an award winner, as of now it’s just a great board for those who want good performance and overclocking for their LGA775 CPU at a decent price point.
