ECS GF8200A Black Motherboard Review :: ECS GF8200A Black Edition BIOS and Overclocking
ECS includes the American Megatrends Incorporated AMIBIOS with their GF8200A motherboard. There are several main areas for the BIOS including the Advanced Chipset menu, the Integrated Peripherals menu, the Frequency/Voltage menu, PC Health Status and AMD CPU Function. The Advanced Chipset menu is where the integrated video memory is allocated and Hybrid SLI is enabled or disabled.
Integrated Peripherals is where the SATA function is set. For best performance I generally uses RAID 0 on my tests with the exception of AMD motherboards which seem to have an issue with RAID 0 operating correctly on their chipsets. Here is also where you enable the onboard devices like Onboard Audio and Onboard LAN. Frequency/Voltage control is where you set the voltages for the memory (up to 2.40V), NB (up to 1.24V), HT and CPU (1.55V). Here you also set the CPU frequency in terms of MHz. The CPU multiplier can be set up to 25x, but the 9850 we use for testing is a 12.5x multiplier CPU. Setting the CPU voltage to 1.3V I was able to overclock the 9850 to 2.8GHz by raising the multiplier. Contents:
