The MA790FX-DS5 uses the standard Phoenix Award BIOS that most motherboards on the market today use with some modifications for Gigabyte’s uses. The BIOS is split into Standard CMOS Features, Advanced BIOS Features, Integrated Peripherals, Power Management Setup, PnP/PCI Configuration, PCI Health Status and the MB Intelligent Tweaker (M.I.T) where the overclocking on the board is done.

The MA-790FX-DS5 implements a Dual BIOS, meaning that if a BIOS Flash goes bad, the board has a backup BIOS that will kick in. Auto Xpress is where the preset overclocking features of the board lie. In general, the MA-790-DS5 board has the standard overclocking features, nothing special but enough for the casual overclocker. AJMD CPUs have lately shown to be very moderate for overclocking in any case so this should not pose a problem for most users.
