The K9A2 Platinum comes in an attractive box that has the name of the motherboard, the main features of the board and the AMD features like CrossfireX are listed as well. The bottom of the box comes with the detailed descriptions of the various features of the motherboard including the accessories that are included in the box.

MSI provides enough hardware to get you started with your new motherboard. Four SATA cables allows you to use the four SATA ports controlled by the SB600 chip, but you need to purchase additional data cables if you want to use the two other ports on the board. The 2-port USB and 1 port Firewire bracket brings the total on the board to six and two respectively.

One thing MSI did with this board that is rather unique is include both an XP Driver CD and a Vista Driver CD. The drivers are installed from the main menu. One word of caution, if you try to install the Dual Core Center be careful because I had the same issue HardOCP had with the OS needing a reinstall after installing it with a Phenom X3 8750. The updated version on MSI’s website works great and I recommend it strongly.
