Gigabyte has been around for a very long time and only Asus predates them as a PC house making them one of the first on this entire scene. This company really has focused on power features on their motherboards as well as the overclocking stuff we enthusiasts enjoy so much. As AMD and its partners try and find solid ground with their new Phenom processors we see Intel taking giant leaps ahead in both the high-end and the mid level market where AMD had made great strides in having a hold on previously.
Currently Intel is kicking ass and taking names in both the chipset and CPU market, as both their lineups have gotten strong response and support from the community at large. NVIDIA’s 780i board is the strongest flagship chipset motherboard for the SLI and Socket 775 platform, and yet it has no support for either DDR3 or CrossFire. DD3 entered the market a few months back at a very high price point, but that price point is dropping steadily as demand for it becomes more commonplace, and production increases. This will be a good thing for overclockers who want to push their systems and CPU to their highest performance values. The X48 chipset is the latest, greatest chipset for the folks at Intel for their Socket 775 platform and the new GA-X48-DQ6 is the latest motherboard from Gigabyte to support this. Today we are only releasing a preview of this motherboard as we continue testing and evaluating in the next few days.
