ECS PX1 Extreme 965P Motherboard Review :: ECS PX1 Extreme Bundle
In terms of hardware the bundle on the ECS PX1 Extreme motherboard is unmatched on the market today. The USB/Firewire bracket brings up the total supported out of the box to 6 and 2 respectively. The 6 SATA cables includes one for the External SATA port, four for the onboard SATA controller and one for the SATA Bridge connection included in the packaging. The SATA Bridge is very interesting and makes up for the single IDE connector on the motherboard. The Bridge is connected to a SATA port by a SATA cable then to a IDE device like a HDD or DVD-ROM and acts as a bridge to the IDE device. It is an effective compromise, especially since there is another IDE port on the board, giving maximum flexibility for those wanting to use a IDE HDD in addition to an IDE CD or DVD drive. One interesting thing about the hardware bundle is the non-inclusion of Top Hat, ECS's BIOS Flash chip that sits atop the BIOS chip to boot off the original BIOS. This chip has saaved my bacon on more than one occasion with corrupted BIOSes on ECS motherboards, and I'm rather disappointed that Top Hat was not included on the board. The software bundle of the ECS PX1 Extreme is extremely generous. Full versions of Data Process Utility (DPU) a file restoration program, Pro Magic Plus, a "GoBack" type utility, WinCinema (WinDVD Creator and WinRip), Media Ring (A VOIP application), ShowShifter (a Home Media Center like application) and I'm InTouch, a remote access program are included.
