ASUS P5B Deluxe Wi-Fi-AP Edition Motherboard Review :: ASUS P5B Deluxe Bundle
ASUS really went all-out to provide the user with an outstanding motherboard bundle. The two-port USB bracket brings the total included to six ports. The Firewire bracket brings the total on the board to two Firewire ports. Six SATA cables are provided matching the number of SATA ports on the Intel ICH8R controller. ASUS also included three SATA power cables to power the drives, as not every PSU has enough power cables for six SATA devices. Wireless Networking is becoming more and more vogue with computers today. Go to a Starbucks and connect to the net with your laptop. Many people use Wireless Networks for their home computer networks, and ASUS decided to take advantage of that by including a Wi-Fi connection right on the motherboard. To install it simply plug in the included Wireless antenna into the Wi-Fi card on the rear IO and you're done. The Wi-Fi-AP Solo is a 54Mbps Wireless LAN adapter. The adapter conforms to the IEEE 802.11b/g wireless standards. Wireless security is provided by 64-bit WEP, 128-bit WEP, WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access), and WPA2 (Station mode only). The System requirements for the Wi-Fi-AP Solo are a 300MHz CPU 128MB of RAM, meaning that any LGA-775 CPU will meet and exceed the requirements The Q-Connector is an extension for the Front Panel IO. To attach the Q-Connectors find the FP IO area and slip the connector over the labeled connector. The SoundMAX Superbeam attachment is an Array Microphone that is designed to record in a cone improving the sound over a regular microphone as the sound can be done from a distance with the same clarity as a close speech microphone. The software the P5B comes with is extensive in most respects. InterVideo's MediaLauncher is bundled, including: MediaOne Gallery, WinDVD Creator 2 Platinum, Disc Master 2.5 Platinum, and DVD Copy 2.5 Platinum. MediaOne Gallery shares files between your various Digital Film including your digital camera, a DV camera, WebCam and other devices. ASUS has developed their own software suite to go with their motherboards. InstallAll installs all of the drivers off the CD in one click. ASUS's Ai Suite is their Artificial intelligence software for overclocking. ASUS Update updates the drivers from ASUS's website automatically. PC Probe II is ASUS's program to monitor temperatures and voltages of the various components. Norton's Internet Security 2006 is also included to provide Anti-Virus software for the motherboard.
