ASUS P5WD2-E Premium Motherboard Review

ASUS is one of the Tier-1 motherboard manufacturers in Taiwan, making over a third of all motherboards sold for computers last year. Considering there were hundreds of millions of computers sold last year. ASUS also manufactures video cards, notebooks and other computer related equipment. ASUS has over 58000 employees and manufactures motherboards based upon virtually every chipset from virtually every company that makes motherboard chipsets.

Intel introduced the Socket 775 interface in 2004 with the advent of the 925X and 915 chipset. The high end of the market was dominated by the 925 chipset, the mainstream by the 915 chipset. Last year Intel refreshed their motherboard chipsets with first the 955 and then 975X and 945 chipsets. ASUS introduced their 975X motherboard, the P5WD2-E Premium early in 2006 and from the features it looks to be a star.
