Intel is the number one manufacturer of motherboard chipsets and CPUs in the world. They are a multi-billion dollar company that has ruled the computing roost for years. AMD, their main competition, has increased their market share among the high-end gaming market and the 64-bit market served by Linux. Late last year Intel introduced the 975X and 945 chipsets. The 975X was the high-end of their line with the 945G being the mainstream segment.

Board Name

GIGABYTE is a Tier-1 motherboard manufacturer based out of Taiwan. They have been around 20 years, longer than NVIDIA has been around and are considered one of the best manufacturers of motherboards around. GIGABYTE makes motherboards on virtually every available chipset from Intel, NVIDIA, ATI and others. The board I'm reviewing today is the GIGABYTE GA-8I945GMH-RH, which is based around Intel's new VIIV technology and should prove interesting at the least.
