ASUS A8R32-MVP Deluxe Motherboard Preview :: RD580 Launch Events

This last week on February 22, which was my birthday BTW, ATI flew a hand-full of reviewers from around the country to introduce their latest greatest chipset. The event was held at the Hyatt on Fisherman's Wharf in beautiful San Francisco and lasted an entire day as we were briefed on what the new chipset had to offer and why it was definitely next generation technology. I got there the night before and got to do a little adventuring before all the business had to get underway, I checked out a few blocks worth of territory, had a shrimp cocktail at an outdoor vendor and finally settled on eating at a little place called Joe's Crab Shack down on the boardwalk. A took a few shots just to be touristy and all that jive.

There were many speakers at the event talking about various aspects of the technology involved and the electrical design implementations that allowed for this chipset to function properly. We actually stated with a breakfast and small registration process where we were given our name badges.

After a small break the meetings began and there were some interesting speakers that day especially Bob the engineer who had the most to say about the properties of what makes this board hardware wise the rock solid avenger and another gent who showed us clips from his studios new game that takes advantage of all the features of ATI VGA cards technology. The game was under an NDA, but you will like it trust me, it's from folks who have made RPG games house hold names to computer junkies and RPG game addicts.

We took a break for the afternoon and in the night we all got together and rode a bus down to a restaurant called the Thirst Bear Brewing Company. We all at some pretty strange food that night, but I have to say the beer was pretty damn fine and the people were all very cool, it was really good to see some of my old friends and peers of so many years in this industry and their were a few new faces as well. All in all it was a good time and I want to thank ATI and Asus for hosting this Tech Day Event. Thanks to all of you who were there as well I hope to see you all soon.
