The ASUS A8R-MVP has an American Megatrends Incorporated BIOS modified for ASUS specific features. The Jumperfree configuration area has ASUS's automatic CPU overclocking utility called ASUS AI. There are 6 Overclocking profiles for the CPU from 3%-30%. The 4000+ we use in testing is not very overclocker friendly. The A8R-MVP overclocked 5% to 3534MHz 100% stable.

The multiplier settings can be changed from 4x-25.5x. Processor Voltage is modifiable from 0.800V-1.55V in 0.25V increments. DDR Voltage can be changed from 2.65V-3.2V. The PCI-Express Voltage can be changed from 1.3V-1.5V in 0.1V increments. The CPU Configuration Utility allows you to change the GART settings, MTRR Settings, Enable/Disable Cool'N Quiet, and change the HyperTransport Link speed from 200MHz-1GHz.

Enabling and disabling Crossfire is an easy task in the BIOS. You can select Auto (for automatic detection), Single card, or Dual card. ATI's Crossfire chipset sets the PCI Express lanes to the x16 for single cards or x8+x8 for dual cards, like NVIDIA's SLI. AMD introduced the HyperTransport Bus with their Athlon 64 CPUs. On this board you can set the HT Link Speed up to 1GHz if you wish.
