ATI's AIW Line Scores Again!

ATI is the number one discrete video chip maker in the world, in a constant battle with their arch-rival NVIDIA. In terms of market share the number one video chip manufacturer is actually Intel with their numerous integrated graphics chips making them the number one company in terms of total market share.

ATI is best known for their video cards for the last 20+ years. They celebrated their 20th anniversary last year and are continuing along with over 2 Billion USD in revenue last year. One thing about ATI is that they are now the senior video card company, with companies like Matrox totally out of the picture, and others like 3DFX and Trident distant memories today.

One thing I've always liked about ATI is their continued emphasis on multimedia both on the computer and other devices that have to do with televisions, consoles and more. ATI has a long history (over 10 years) of bringing out video cards with a Television tuner and more, called the All-In-Wonder series. No other company in the industry has brought as many features into their multimedia video cards as ATI. ATI announced their first Shader Model 3.0 video card in October of last year, the X1K series based upon the R520 chip. At the time ATI also released their All-In-Wonder counterpart to that chip, the A-I-W X1800XL. Today ATI is announcing the successor to the A-I-W X1800XL, the A-I-W X1900 and that is the card I'm reviewing here today.
