ASUS uses an American Megatrends BIOS on this board with some modifications for ASUS specific features. The first feature is A.I. Overclocking or Artificial Intelligence Overclocking. ASUS has 5 settings in the BIOS for it: Auto, Manual, Standard, AI NOS and Overclock Profile. Auto sets the overclocking to automatic. Manual lets you change the settings. Standard is the standard clock. AI NOS has settings for 1% 3% 5% and 10% overclock. Overclock profile allows you to set a profile with the same settings.
Manual overclocking allows the user to set the various settings for the CPU, the memory and voltage. CPU voltage can be modified from 1.575V-1.375V in 0.125V increments. The CPU FSB frequency can be set from 200MHz-400MHz. Memory voltage can be set from 2.6V-3.20V in 0.05V increments. CAS settings can be set from 1.5-3.0 allowing for a wide variety of memory settings.
Overclocking with the A8N32-SLI board was sporatic, due to the 4000+ we use for testing. When I set ASUS's AI NOS to 10% it would not boot at that speed. The maximum I was able to overclock stably with ASUS's AI was 5%, not stellar, but typical with the 4000+ we use on the test station. One thing I like about the ASUS motherboard is the ability to set the overclocking automatically.
