ASRock is a subsidiary of ASUS Corporation, one of Taiwan's biggest computer component manufacturers. ASUS is a Tier-1 motherboard manufacturer known for quality, high-performance, and feature-rich motherboards. Other components they manufacture include cases, DVD drives, video cards among others.
ULi began life in the computer industry a short 3 years ago in 2002. Founded in December of 2002, ULi is a independent subsidiary of ALi Corporation. In 2004, ULi introduced the world's first PCI Express South Bridge. Earlier this year, ULi introduced the first chipset capable of supporting PCI Express x16, AGP 8x and PCI graphics at one time.
ASRock has a history of making strange chipsets. They were the first motherboard manufacturer to introduce a chipset that you can use either the AMD Socket 754 or 939 CPU on board (K8 Combo2). They also introduced two motherboards with an upgrade slot to convert from 754 to 939 on the board (K8U-Upgrade NF3). Many of their boards also support either PCI Express or AGP video cards. Today, I'm looking at their 939DUAL-SATA2 AA/S/R board.
