One of the defining characteristics of the PF88 Extreme board is the ability to use either an AMD Athlon 64 or Intel Pentium 4 CPU on the same board by adding a card into the board. Assuming performance is up to par with the SIS 756 North Bridge and SIS 656 North Bridge, this makes for a viable chipset. I applaud ECS for taking the first step down the path of making one board that will work with either CPU. It's a very cool idea, innovative, and gives you the choice between Athlon 64 and Pentium 4 CPU without changing the motherboard. The motherboard itself comes with an outstanding bundle both in the hardware and software department. |
