The board comes with an Award Software DUAL-BIOS configuration that is easily enough configured with custom settings, but automatically sets the parameters based on what parts are detected upon booting of the system. The DUAL-BIOS is a save your board backup in case of a failed BIOS flash or failed BIOS chip, in either case the system automatically boots to the working BIOS. Overclocking is handled by the MB Intelligent Tweaker (M.I.B). This feature allows the user to set their settings to an auto or manual environment, which can be used to overclock the system. You can increase the voltage of the PCI-E, CPU and memory for better stability in an overclocked system as well as alter the CPUs clock ratio (Where Permitted) and memory frequency for increased performance. Overclocking the CPU was only stable to around 8% with my stock heatsink and cooler and others may get better results depending on their cooling and system parts. The options for successful overclocking are all available and the only factors that may daunt the user are heat and cheesy parts.

You can monitor how well the system and CPU are being cooled, the speed of the various system fans and the status of the different voltage settings via the PC Health Status screen located within the BIOS. You can enable or disable the CPU and fan failure warnings as well as the CPU Smart Fan Control, which speeds up or slows down the fans rotation speed on the CPU cooler depending on its thermal needs. The GA-8GPNXP is like most boards currently available as far as general BIOS features and it is designed in a straight-out enough fashion for just about any user to understand if they read the manual and have at least a bit of PC knowledge, If this is going to be your first system build I would highly suggest just letting the BIOS automatically detect your settings as to avoid any unwarranted errors. The system can be set to power on by either the keyboard or mouse and you get the option of Resume On by Ring or Resume by Alarm, but the Wake on LAN feature was not evident. All the SATA and PATA control options are also controlled within the BIOS and can be set to whatever way you have your system configured. If you choose to use a discreet sound card instead of the embedded Azalea solution you can disable the onboard sound so the two do not conflict.
