At first glance you can see the board is laid out very well and has easy and legible writing on the board identifying where the various connections for both the case wiring and system cables connect. This makes things easier when you do not have the manual sitting right in front of you and just want to get up and going as quickly as possible. The board has a digital readout showing the running state of the board and is something usually only seen on boards from EPOX and is a nice added feature to the ABIT KV8-MAX3. The floppy location is fine as long as you are not using a giant server case as it is located near the bottom of the board and would take an extremely long cable to reach the floppy in that instance. Windows Installation as well as setting up the system went by without any problems. I would suggest upgrading to Microsoft's SP1 or SP2 patch for optimal stability and security.

You can very easily flash your BIOS through ABIT's FlashMenu GUI that offers the user the ability to flash their BIOS to the latest release in the Windows environment as long as you have an Internet connection. Another interesting feature is the BlackBox applet. The BlackBox is an error reporting tool, that you can accurately record system specifications and submit the generated report directly to ABIT's Support department. The information being submitted to their support team should significantly increase the turn around time of your RMA request. All the drivers needed for the system are included on the CD that accompanies the board allowing for shorter setup times. You can secure your system by the included Secure IDE, which is an encryption card that uses the eNOVA X-Wall chipset that ensures confidentiality and privacy of your data through disk encryption. This allows only the person with the supported key card the ability to boot up the system.
