This is one of the most impressive boards from Intel I have seen in awhile, as feature wise, it is a very competitive product from the folks at Intel. Is it the best enthusiast's board available? Maybe not, but for most users that is not a big decision factor as they want features, stability and support three elements Intel has always shined in so that will carry a lot of weight when it comes to spending their cash in the checkout line believe me.

Personally I feel whenever Intel delves into some new technology or explores into untapped features it is always good in one way or another to the user as we benefit from their hard efforts. The motherboard group based out of Oregon is always trying to be one step ahead of the game and has R&D projects constantly in the works trying to bring a better more enriched solution for the Intel platform. Jeff and his fellow teammates have successfully brought many new enthusiast based features to light with the Canterwood and Springdale chipset boards and this should work well for them marketwise.

I liked this board quite a bit and although not an overclockers dream board it still has enough appeal to please many would be users in PC land. The bottom line is this, if you need a stable board; want enough features to be viable for now and in the future and want to use the Intel P4 as your platform, this could be right up your purchasing alley. The few downside things to this board are just that, a few and the overall take on the product is very positive. Audiophiles are the ones who should truly take a look here as the D865PERL has at the moment, the best on-board sound both hardware and software wise and is very user oriented. Okay Intel you win my vote on this one hands down!! Good job people, keep up the good work.
