I have to give credit where credit is due and Intel and Analog Devices have done a fine job in bringing the D845EBT to light. I was very satisfied with both how well the board setup and performed. This is a motherboard that could get Intel back on the radar of the enthusiast, a market they would well like to tap into with zeal.

Being feature filled only adds a new angle to an otherwise stable motherboard that should appeal to gamers and audiophiles alike due to the great sound package found in the SoundMax Cadenza. If you liked Intel desktop boards before the grass just got a little greener for you friend.

I feel this is the best Intel desktop board to pass thorough the lab yet and even though it only scored an overall 75 points I still think it deserves an Editors choice award as this is the board going in my personal system as my board of choice. I was quite impressed with what the D845EBT could do for me as an avid gamer and unlike arch rival AMD the board is compatible with just about everything available on the market currently.

I think anyone who wants a stable and feature filled board without to much fluff should take a serious look at the D845EBT. The price on this product should also fall within the affordable budget range of most consumers making an affordable as well as functional motherboard to build their system on. Good job people this is one for the books and the D845EBT should find a home in many systems.

The Good

  • Outstanding sound package
  • Stable as a rock and compatible with most peripherals
  • Very featured filled for an Intel board.

The Bad

  • Lack of native ATA133 support
  • No NB Active heatsink

The Ugly>

  • Case wiring diagram is located between the PCI slots making it impossible to read after peripherals are installed (After Complaing to Intel I was assured this would be corrected on the retail version).
