Motherboards: Intel D850EMV2 Review :: Installation
There was nothing adverse about the setup as it is jumper free and being an Intel based system usually means less setup headaches than others. Intel provides a driver and software CD containing all the necessary system drivers and some additional software such as Norton AV, NTI CD maker, Intel Active monitor (A program for system monitoring in Windows) and various others. Also remember what I stated previously about PC1066 RDRAM as it will show an error message at the initial BOOT screen but does not affect the system adversely in any manner.
Installation into the Directron case proved to be a simple affair for us as the board offered little resistance to the end user. As I stated previously everything is separated enough that the cables and wiring do not get pushed into one area creating a mêlée for room or airflow. Installation of the AGP card does block some memory slots, but this is the case on most boards these days even though reviewers worldwide have been complaining about it for years. Longer cards like the GF4 Ti series are just too big to fit in the board without blocking at least on memory slot.
Software and all the system drivers went easy as cake and took a total of about thirty-five minutes or so to complete. All in all this is a very user friendly and east to configure motherboard. End users of even beginning caliber should find this board poses little problems for them to get up and going without a headache. Always read your manual before attempting these projects, as it will help you familiarize yourself with all the options available to you on your motherboard. If you have never attempted this before take a look here as we show you how it's done in our own how to build a PC guide.
