Soltek is a company that has done well for themselves in the European market but has not quite caught on yet here in America as well as they would like to. Clearly the leader in the overall performance tests the Sl-85DR-C is one fast motherboard and has the results to back it up as it moves to the head of the pack in that arena. This is also a feature lacking motherboard and is on par with the Asus P4B as far as features go. The 85DR-C is another plain Jane with a heart of silicon gold that can be configured jumper less also for ease of use.

What you do get is a multitude of overclocking feature options that make this the board of choice if you are looking for a fast performance savvy motherboard without the frills. Red Storm is the overclocking utility located within the BIOS that tests your system the CPU to the maximum settings the board can take and run stabile without the BIOS crashing, You can actually get better results if you experiment a bit more but this utility makes it almost too easy. I am still old fashioned I like to play around for awhile with the BIOS settings always searching for that extra MHz gain that is just that one more setting away. The 85DR-c excels in this area.

The drawbacks to this motherboard are its lack of ATA133 controllers a must have for the next generation systems and its mediocre AC97 onboard sound that is a just get by audio solution at best. If you already have your own peripheral cards that you are connected at the hip to and just want performance options as your cup of tea this is the board for you my friend. I must say that this is an advanced users board due to setup can be a bit fickle sometimes with this motherboard. If you want to live in the fast lane and do not care about onboard ATA133 or other onboard feature options check this board out. What you sacrifice in options is made up for in the pure speed of the Soltek 85DR-C the fastest board in this roundup.
