This motherboard offers the average user many features in the overclocking and sound departments, but it lacks many of the features offered by the other boards in this shootout. Features such as RAID, LAN, and USB 2.0 were not found on the P4B266. Just your average faire is the flavor of this motherboard. The ASUS name alone will carry this board into the chassis of many computer integrators and hobbyists' worldwide, not to mention the enormous OEM market that this company has taken on.

The standard ATA100 controller is present and along with that the board does have six PCI slots and onboard sound, so card expansion is more than ample with this board. There are both jumper and jumper less configurations available and you can use either depending on what your preferences are. The boards layout is done well with the exception of the floppy cable connector that is turned sideways and can become a problem to access with smaller cases. The board is user friendly and has adequate overclocking features that give very good results and are easy to use.

Asus never one to be a slacker has made a motherboard that resulted in very good performance scores in the 3D and SYSmark tests and the P4B266 came in second overall in this five board roundup. Asus is slowly losing their lead as the number one motherboard in the eyes of the enthusiast as other aggressive companies move up the food chain of the PC market. Overall this is an average motherboard that is not overly savvy in any area. It is stable and easy to setup but is just in the middle of the road as far as its overall feature options are concerned. A little more here would have meant a lot on this board.
