The SoundMAX with SPX design allows for many different sound applications from onboard two speaker solutions and digital surround sound options via an additional CNR card that has Digital Optical output jacks for complete digital sound reproduction through your desktop computer.
SoundMAX works with the existing onboard AC97 Codec offering professional quality digital audio with a 96dB signal to noise ratio and an excellent 44.1 kHz sampling rate that sounds as good as or better than most home stereos. The SoundMAX solution utilizes the latest multi-voice DLS Wavetable MIDI synthesis with Staccato SynthCore Audio Rendering Technology which provides better physical and real time sound effects. Featuring the well developed Sensaura 3D positional audio environment that recreates a true 3D feel to the overall sound sensation for your games and multimedia. The Sensaura modifies the phase and group delay (Doppler Shift) of outgoing sound signals so you the listener benefit by being immersed in a 3D sound experience that seriously rivals the best that Creative currently has on the market. I was lucky enough to get an early look at this and I was impressed with the sound it was capable of reproducing using the CNR card especially when listening to MP3s and CDs in pure digital surround sound. The CNR card works in conjunction with the motherboards onboard chipset and you can still use the onboard sound in a two speaker configuration without the use of the CNR card if you wish.
There are also many options available in the Windows environment for taking total control of your sound system. Intel has come up with a very nice Windows base driver package that is both easy to use and has features to please even the most stubborn user. You are offered a multitude of environmental and other sound shaping options that I took some screen captures of to give you a look at what the SoundMAX has to offer and I think you will be impressed with its features.
Intel has packaged an exceptional "audio bundle" with SoundMAX, NTI CD Maker 2000, Realplayer, and Realjukebox, its ready to roll, NTI CD-Maker 2000 makes recording your MP3s and WAV files even easier with high speed audio extractions that doesn't sacrifice sound quality for speed. You can also take full advantage of RealPlayer one of the most popular players for streaming media and audio which works very well with the SoundMAX technology. MP3s and digital music are where this technology works great right off the onboard sound.
