What is really cool about the HDDBOOST from Silverstone is that it allows you to use the SSD drive and HDD together without an OS install. When you want to add a drive in a RAID array on a normal computer you have to install the OS anew in most cases (unless it is a NAS Server with its own OS on a drive.) With the HDDBOOST all you need to do is a simple setup and you are ready to go.

One of the issues with the Solid State Drive (SSD) is the limited lifetimes with constant writes. The drive manufacturers have developed special file systems or firmware designs by spreading writes over the entire device called wear leveling but it is still an issue. By using the storage drive for most writes, this minimizes the wear on the SSD drive, thus lengthening the lifetime of an SSD drive when using the HDDBOOST from Silverstone.
