Intel has been at the forefront of processor technology for several years since the release of their Core family of Central Processing Units (CPUs). They generally have a high-end and a mainstream CPU mix. Generally only the highest performing CPUs are unlocked, allowing for easier overclocking. The 980X is a prime example of their philosophy on CPUs, with a price tag nearing $1000 and unlocked cores. Today Intel is launching two new unlocked CPUs the Core i5 655K and the Core i7 875K. Both of these CPUs are meant to bring unlocked cores to the more mainstream prices to better compete with AMD for the overclocker hungry enthusiast.
