XFX uses a little different design for their new card than the other HD 5830s on the market. While the reference HD 5830 uses the same PCB as the HD 5870, with the same heatsink and cooler, the XFX HD 5830 uses a rather unique heatsink/fan combination with an angular heatsink. The fan is a 9-fin fan that sits on the graphics chip.

The card the same size as the reference HD 5830 unlike some of the pictures on the Net showing a shorter one that was erroneous. There is a heatsink covering the circuitry on the card. The card has 1024MB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 1000MHz or 4.0GHz effective considering DDR and the fact that memory bandwidth is doubled with GDDR5 memory.

The top of the card has Crossfire bridges. The HD 5830 can be paired with up to three HD 5830s for CrossfireX action improving performance over a single card. The back of the card has two 6-pin power connectors much like a HD 5870 would have. The Front I/O on the card is the same as on other HD 5830 cards with a DVI-I, DisplayPort and a HDMI connector. You can run three monitors with the DP occupied.
