To get a reference temperature I used the stock cooler. The idle temperature of the stock cooler was 34C at minimum using the HWMonitor application and the OCCT CPU stability program that shows temperatures and voltages. The stock idle temperature read 33.63 degrees and the vCore voltage read 1.38V.

The idle temperature of the AMD Phenom II 940 using the stock cooler was 34C, which isn’t too bad but when using the Corsair cooling it read 30C a 4C improvement on idle temperatures. When overclocked to 3.445GHz the CPU read a temperature of 39C on idle and a maximum of 36C when using the Corsair H50 cooler, a 3C difference.
But of course who cares when the CPU is idle? The important temperatures are when the system is under stress. To test stress I used Prime 95 and HWMonitor to record temperatures. Stress temperatures read 66C at 3GHz and 69C at 3.445GHz. The Corsair CPU cooler read temperatures of 47C at 3.0GHz maximum when running Prime95 and 49C when clocked at 3.445GHz running Prime95 maximum.
