Setting up the system is very easy once everything is back in place. Plug the system in to the AC adapter and AC power cord; plug the LAN cable into the computer and the DS410J and power on the DS410J. At this point insert the Installation CD into the computer you are going to use to setup the computer and click Set up the Synology Server and follow the onscreen prompts. Once you get to the Disk Station Manager 2.2 screen click the Management button. Assuming you have two drives that you want to set up in RAID 0 modes. Creating a RAID 0 volume on two 1GB Seagate HDDs took about 10 minutes. Depending how many disks you have in the system up to the maximum of four you can set up a RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, or RAID 10 system. The setup of this NAS Server is easy and intuitive with menus explaining what you need to do to setup the different types of file servers. Setting up an FTP server is as simple as opening the Disk Station Manager, enabling the FTP service, setting the Port number and range setting the connection restrictions and changing the security settings.
