Synology bundled their DS410J in a plain brown and black box. The front has the words Synology new NAS Experience for Windows and Mac. The side of the box has the hardware included as well as a list of the features of the NAS server. Opening the box we find that Synology has bundled the NAS server with two foam end pieces and covered the unit with another piece of foam. The DS410J accessories come packed inside a brown box including the usual assortment of screws and the AC Power adapter and LAN cable. A separate box holds the A/C Power cord for the unit. Also inside the first box is the Driver CD. One of the underlying concepts for the AS410J unit is to help save the environment and one way that Synology does this is by having no physical manual but loading it on a CD. The software that is on the CD consists of the Synology Server Assistant, Data Replicator 3, and Download Redirector. The Server Assistant allows you to logon to the DS410J, Map a network drive, and add a printer and setup resource monitor. Data Replicator 3 allows you to backup save and restore data from your hard disk. Download Redirector allows you to send your file downloads to the DS410J instead of your local computer. The Disk Station Manager has access to virtually every feature of the NAS server. You can look at the Network, Language, PPPoE, Time, Notification, Power, Restore Defaults, Firmware Update, Package Management and every other setting including Network Services, File Sharing and Storage. Here is where you set up your hard disks and the type of RAID you use.
