There is a laundry list of features on the Synology N410J NAS Server too long to list and explain. I will cover the important features that are relevant for File servers but you can see they have virtually every facet covered for file storage. The Synology DS410J has an 800MHz CPU along with 128MB of DDR800MHz memory. This is a sufficient for a file server. There is a Gigabit LAN for the server as well.

The DS410J supports all of the latest networking protocols including FTP, CIFS, Telnet/SSH, and NFS. The file system on the hard disks can either be EXT3, FAT or NTFS. It supports the latest operating systems including Windows 2000 or later Mac OS 10.3 (onward). The browser support is also varied with IE, Firefox, and Safari browsers supported. You can also use an iPhone or other Smartphone in conjunction with this file server and your files. Synology calls this a crossover breed of NAS due to its functionality and feature set, and you can buy the unit itself for a mere $369.00 as a bare unit with no drives, which is very affordable to both the home and SOHO business that could take advantage of this type of device.
