Server and workstation motherboards are important to people running a business or large company. The typical workstation computer has a fast CPU or two CPUs, large memory configurations, high speed networking, and high performance 3D graphics tailored for the workstation market, or integrated graphics and high performance capacity storage. Another factor in the modern server computer is the reliability of components as the computer is designed to last a while. The modern server or workstation computer does not need to be overclocked as the high reliability is more important.
Intel Xeon class CPUs are a good choice for the primary CPU of a modern server computer. It has four cores, uses the LGA-1366 Socket first introduced with the X58 chipset and has high performance. ASUS manufactures motherboards, video cards and other computer related equipment including server motherboards. Today, Iím reviewing the ASUS Z8NA-D6C motherboard which is the latest in a string of motherboards from that company. This should be an interesting board as it has a PCI Express x16 slot for external graphics and a few features not found on other server or workstation motherboards on the market today. Special thanks to Kinston for providing the memory for this review, thanks Dave.
