XFX HD 5970 Black Edition Video Card Review

In terms of features the HD 5970 canít be beat by anything from the NVIDIA team at the moment and their answer to the HD 5xxx series will not be available until sometime next year. In terms of performance the XFX Radeon HD 5970 Black Edition performs very well indeed with very high performance on standard settings. This card comes shipped at the standard reference clocks but includes an OverVoltage utility that can take it to the next level, with 100MHz engine and 250MHz memory overclocks completely stable throughout testing. This is a great overclock for a 2-GPU card and performance is commensurate with the clocks. This card is not actually available online from Newegg today, but is retailing for a price of $719.99 which is a problem shared by virtually every HD 5970 card on the market. The $80 premium over their reference card, gives you the 5-Star support of XFX, overvoltage utility that allows a high overclock and the best single card performing card on the market. Head to head against the GTX 295, the HD 5970 outperforms it by wide margins. Overall a serious Editorís Choice Product.
