When you buy the SOD01 it comes in a pretty plain brown box with not too much to distinguish it between others. I guess this is done to save on costs and with online buying it’s really a moot point anyways, but a cool box would at least give it some pizzazz. On a shelf at Fry’s this would be a factor as eye candy catches attention, but buying from Newegg and Tiger Direct price is usually more important than any fancy box anyways.

The drive can be easily installed into most laptops or a mini PC like the one we used. Some laptops may prove to be a bit harder to work with than others so if you are unsure take your system to someone who knows what they are doing as to not break your laptop trying to install it. The system we used was very easy to work with and SilverStone also has a few mini enclosures that this drive will fit well in. For installation into a mini PC enclosure all you need to do is hook up the SATA and power cables and mount it with four screws. All in all this is a fairly easy install into a mini PC, or a regular size system with a bracket that will allow it to install in a 5.25 bay. The drive has a 2MB buffere so you don’t encounter buffer underruns while making copies or burning media. This is fairly standard in almost all DVD drives currently avaialble on the open market.
