Video cards are one of the most important aspects of a new computer as a video card determines what is displayed onscreen in a video game or application. The reality of today's video card market is determined by price/performance more than anything else, as the feature set of today's video cards has not changed since 2006 when the ATI HD 3800 series of video cards launched with DirectX 10.1 and few games require the performance of the highest of highest end video cards. NVIDIA recently launched their GTX285 chip on January 15, 2009.
XFX is a division of Pine Technology Group which is based in Hong Kong. For several years XFX has built video cards solely on NVIDIA based chips. Late last year XFX announced that they would also be releasing ATI based video cards and have released the full lineup of ATI cards. XFX is still a strong NVIDIA supplier, with every NVIDIA video chip and motherboard chipset having at least one XFX branded release. Today I'm reviewing the latest video card from XFX the XFX GeForce GTX285 Black Edition card.
