GMC K2 Ebony R2 Toast and R3 Corona Review :: K2 Noblesse EBONY case Interior and system build
Taking off the front panel of the case you can see where the designers compromised to get all of those buttons in the case. Behind the front you can see a ton of wires to put those buttons and the Multiple Card Reader to use. Below the drive bays is a 120mm fan that cools the HDDs. The front of the 140mm fan has a dust filter that you can remove if you wish. Inside the case you can see the HDD bays. There's room for four HDDs installed with the same type of screwless drive rails used in the 5.25" drive bays. Just insert the drive rails onto the HDDs and slide it into place into the HDD rack. The case can fit all ATX, Med-ATX and Micro-ATX motherboards. Note that the air funnel on the side door may block a tall cooler like the V8 so removal of it may be necessary. The inside has 7 expansion slots for expansion cards. The PSU area is on the top of the case. There is a shelf that holds the PSU into place along with the screws. Under the PSU area is the standard 120mm fan mount. The K-2 Ebony case has plenty of room to install a long video card like the GeForce GTX 280 or ATI Radeon HD 4870 x2 as the wires from the HDDs are not routed through that area. The case came in a box tall box. Upon removing the case from the box you have to remove two foam covers then the plastic cover to see the case. Inside the case is a Remote, the manual, a variety of screws , wiring paraphernalia and drive rails, standoffs, and two batteries. Also included is a driver for the software. The first thing you should do when installing a case is install the PSU and make sure it is secure. If you don't the PSU may block the insertion of the motherboard or other component. After installing a HDD and the DVD-ROM, the system was ready for the motherboard. The K-2 EBONY case does not have a removable motherboard tray, so the motherboard was mounted using the indicated holes. After installing the CPU, the memory and the video card it was ready for first power up. Contents:
