Palit HD 4870 512MB Video Card Review :: Gaming on the Palit HD 4870 Dual Sonic Card
Crysis is the game by which all current video cards are tested. The release of Crysis Warhead and Far Cry 2 will allow us to add new cards and games to the mix but I haven’t gotten Far Cry 2 and the game would need to be tested before being added. Crysis plays well on the HD 4870 Dual Sonic card from Palit, with frame rates in the high 20s throughout even with AA and AF enabled. The second game I played on the HD 4870 Sonic card was the game World In Conflict. This game takes place in a world which is at war and a good indicator of performance of a modern video card as it uses DirectX 10.0 Pixel Shaders and Vertex Shaders. WIC played well on the HD 4870 with frame rates throughout the levels of 40-50 fps even at the heaviest firefights at 1920x1200. The 4870 from Palit is an excellent card for the most demanding games. Recently, Midway Games has released several updated versions of their arcade classics including Area 51. Area 51 of course was a military base in the Nevada desert where the government supposedly hid ETs. The game played great on the HD 4870 Sonic Dual card as it played with 1920x1200 without any difficulty. Game screenshots
