One of the big features on ATI A-I-W cards has been the ability to watch TV on the PC. The All in Wonder HD is the first A-I-W card to support HDTV in a similar fashion to the TV Wonder HD. ATI sent an antenna which I tried out with the card for the HDTV signal. Setup of the card was easy; I inserted the A-I-W HD card into a free PCI Express x16 slot then the daughter card into a free PCI Express x1 slot. The cable connected over the card into the pin connector on the left hand side of the card.

Driver installation was easy. ATI sent a Driver CD with the drivers for the video card and for the Catalyst Media Center on them. Once the video card drivers were installed I installed the CMC and went through the installation process for that application. After choosing the signal source I ran the Autoscan on the Digital TV (ATSC). It found over 20 channels including the local channels for ABC, FOX, the CW and a few others.

ATI has improved their EPG interface with the choices being Titan in the Los Angeles area. The channels are clearly defined with sub channels for the appropriate stations. If you use the OTA antenna, be aware that signal strength will vary from time to time and the number of stations received will not match the Extended Program Guide.

Image quality varied on the channels depending on what the source was. Commercials generally were not shot in HD and the quality of the picture during a commercial was lacking. If the content was 1080p such as a newscast from ABC News, the image was crystal clear with no artifacts noticeable. Sound was also crystal clear throughout the programs on the detected channels. One thing that was interesting was the difference in image quality between HD content and SD content was rather noticeable.
