Intel bills the DP55WG as a Media machine with a touch of Extreme. With Firewire, and a fully fledged audio solution in the form of a Realtek ALC889 which has content protection and Firewire, the DP55WG is a great solution for those wanting a Media PC with all of the features to play back Blu-Ray movies.. Intel knows their customer base with motherboards for every need. From a performance point of view, the DP55WG performs near on par with its DP55KG in terms of performance but falls short on overclocking as one would expect from a non-Extreme board from Intel. Compatibility was excellent... more.

ASUS has taken the winning combination of the ASUS P7P55D Premium motherboard and improved it by adding USB 3.0 support making a great board even better. Features-wise the P7P55D-E Premium outclasses everything on the market with 48 Hybrid Phase Power, SATA 3.0, USB 3.0, good overclocking via the TurboV EVO processor and a TurboV Remote to overclock with the touch of the remote. Performance on the board is excellent as well, with the board performing near on par with the ASUS P7P55D Premium. ASUS has a bridge chip to enable support for SATA 6 Gb/second and USB 3.0. The use of a bridge chip... more.

This board performs great, with performance in the same class as other motherboards in this chipset. Overclocking was a bit of a mixed bag as the 750 CPU was able to overclock to 4GHz without issue but the voltage options did not allow me to see what the new voltage would be. From a features point of view the board is a standard P55 board but for $100 on Newegg after mail-in rebate this is an acceptable compromise as many other boards are much more expensive. The layout of the 8-pin power connector and IDE are interesting with only the 8-pin power connector in a great position for the bottom... more.

Two HD 5850s are definitely better than a single card in almost every game. To take advantage of two cards of this magnitude you almost have to turn up FSAA to 8x and AF to 16x as performance with 4x FSAA is nearly CPU limited on a Core i7 920. Turning up the image quality is a benefit everyone can appreciate as the games are not stressed by two cards at 4X at all. Performance in games increases 30-40% over a single card in every case except Batman Arkham Asylum which has issues running in Crossfire mode. The cost of two HD 5850s if you can find them is $540 on Newegg, meaning it is more... more.

The P55 Express and LGA-1156 CPU combination has been a success for Intel as they have no real competition in this market due to the lack of a license for NVIDIA and the lack of serious competition from the AMD guys in the CPU space. Many motherboard manufacturers use the P55 Express chipset in their lineups as a less expensive complement to the X58 chipset and Core i7 CPU combination. The new chipset has some features that innovate, such as support for the graphics card PCI Express lanes on the CPU, and are the first motherboards to support SATA 6 Gb/second.This article can be found in our... more.

The Sapphire Radeon HD 5750 Vapor-X video card is a slightly faster overclocked version of their regular HD 5750 card. While a 10MHz overclock on both the core and memory clock speeds is not much, that is not the point of this card. The Vapor-X video card runs quietly when in Windows with no discernable noise from the card in normal operation. The second thing this card has is a high overclock threshold with 850MHz for the core and 1420MHz for the memory fully stable. Temperatures with Vapor-X reached 56C under load when overclocked and 42C when idle, very good temperatures for a video card.... more.
