ATI was the leading provider of video cards before it was bought by AMD in 2006. Their leadership role when it comes to new video cards and chipsets is pretty clear in terms of updated features (DirectX 10.1), updated memory interfaces (512-bit memory bus, DDR5 memory) etc. As a part of AMD, ATI has released new video cards and is rumored to be launching their next generation video chip in the very near future.
ASUS is a leading provider of video cards, motherboards, and other computer components. ASUS sells video cards based upon both NVIDIA and ATI graphics chips. ATI released the HD3870 late last year offering high performance at a reasonable price for their enthusiast class video chip. The mid-range equivalent of the HD3870 was the HD3650. Today’s review is based upon the ASUS EAH3650 TOP card, which is a mid level performer as seen with past reviews.
