Company of Heroes was released last year to great acclaim. The game is a squad based Real Time wargame that takes a squad through World War II. THQ, the makers of Company of Heroes released a DirectX 10 patch to showcase the graphics power of cards that support DirectX 10 like the 8800GT. The 8800GT 1GB AKIMBO video card plays the game with few problems even at high resolutions and settings.

Call of Duty is a long-running series of war games. Call Of Duty 4 Modern Warfare is the latest in a long running series that dates back four years. The game users DirectX 9.0 Pixel and Vertex Shaders to do beautiful lighting on the soldier’s and the sky shadows, it also uses HDR throughout the game. The 8800GT AKIMBO runs this game with no issues and it plays well on it. The game played at 1680x1050 without issue and is an excellent showcase of what the 8800GT can do. The 8800GT played every game I threw at it without problems and with the full visual fidelity that one would expect from an NVIDIA card based upon their DirectX 10 architecture. In many cases, games based upon DX9 graphics can enable CSAA 16x without issue as to performance. DirectX 10 games like Crysis require more horsepower but you can play these games without AA and AF without issue on the 8800GT.
